🔧 Precision at Low Flow Rates: Dosing DEMINERALIZED WATER with WLX External Gear Pumps
At Pompe Cucchi, we continue to push the boundaries of precision and control in volumetric pumping. One of the most delicate challenges in industrial applications is the accurate dosing of DEMINERALIZED WATER, especially when flow rates are extremely low and system pressure is significant.
Today we are testing our WLX external gear pump for an application requiring the dosing of DEMINERALIZED WATER at 30 liters per hour and 7 bar of pressure. This case perfectly illustrates the capabilities and reliability of our gear pump technology, even in the most sensitive processes.
💡 Why is DEMINERALIZED WATER dosing a technical challenge?
Unlike many viscous or lubricating fluids, Demineralized Water presents specific difficulties:
Low lubricity
– DEMINERALIZED WATER has little to no lubrication properties, which increases wear risk on standard pump materials.
Corrosive potential
– Although it’s «pure», DEMINERALIZED WATER can be aggressive to metals due to its high affinity for ions. Special material selection is crucial.
Flow stability at low rates
– Operating at just 30 l/h demands extremely tight clearances and high mechanical precision to avoid pulsation and leakage.
System pressure
– With discharge pressure up to 7 bar, the pump must ensure perfect sealing and dimensional stability, even under stress.
⚙️ The WLX Advantage
The WLX Series of external gear pumps has been developed by Pompe Cucchi with these challenges in mind:
✅ High precision machining for micro-dosing
✅ Advanced materials for handling non-lubricating and aggressive fluids
✅ Compact, modular design for seamless integration
✅ Excellent repeatability and minimal pulsation
In this specific project, the WLX pump delivered continuous, accurate dosing of DEMINERALIZED WATER, with stable performance over time and no leakage or premature wear, thanks to careful design and optimal materials selection.
🧪 Conclusion
DEMINERALIZED WATER may seem like a simple liquid, but dosing it reliably under pressure and at low flow is anything but simple. It requires a pump that is:
Robust yet delicate,
Precise yet durable,
And above all, engineered for long-term consistency!
